To his coy mistress is about sexual feelings and infatuation, based on the Italian tradition of courtly love - it is filled with compliments and references to sexual activity and deviancy but is generally a one sided love, the whole poem is about the man wooing the woman and persuading her that she should have sex with him. Throughout the first stanza the poet writes how he would love the woman, had they had all the time in the world. The love is much exaggerated. "I would love you ten years before the flood" This is clearly an exaggerated statement because the flood happened before Christ, before the poet or the woman even existed. This portrays that he would love her forever. "My vegetable love would grow vasterà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦and more slow" The poet is talking about time, about his love growing slowly but surely over time. The reference to a vegetable the natural fruit of the earth symbolises how the love for the woman will grow over years, from a seed getting bigger over time- its natural and deep rooted love. The end of the poem becomes more persuasive and hasted. The poet gets more desperate for the woman to accept his offer and to agree to sleep with him. A clear indication of a change in tone is shown in stanza twoà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ "BUTà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ ¦ times winged chariot hurrying near" Where the word But is placed at the start of the sentence usually indicates that the statement before the but is about to be contradicted with a sentence of the opposite meaning (he was good BUT he is being bad) the use of personification verbs add to the tone of the poem; making time seem as a winged chariot emphasises the rush that the poet is in, .. ...time "Seemed night at noon day" Though in the poem the reader is not given a sense of 'hurrying' and anticipation but a sense of confusion portraying the emotional distress the poet is going through. As the poem progresses into the third and last stanza the poet writes of his rejection and his pain cause by the subject he had so hopelessly fallen in love with. "Is love's bed always snow?" this is a rhetorical question, comparing the of love which is thought to be warm and loving with passionate heat and comfort (positive) to snow; cold harsh snow, with no colour, which is bleak and which brings death to all living things (negative) - again the poet is using contrasting aspects in one sentence to show confusion too. The poet has been made to feel that love is a horrible, harsh and bitter feeling.

Running Away

That night, she peered at me with eyes that was hanging out of her sockets and then said quietly that i could stay at her house. We strolled along the windey road waiting to see any of our other friends from school we saw a few but no one we wanted to hang around with; i was cold and so was Sarah we decided to go home we walked for miles †¦ well it seemed like miles my legs were aching and my back was killing i had shooting pains right from the top all the way to the bottom! We got to Sarah's house and to our amazment Sarah's mum wasn't in we decided to make a comfy spot for us to sit while her mum came home †¦ it was like we had been sat there for hours in the background we could hear the church bells ringing we listened carefully to hear each chime we counted the chimes; something didn't add up right both of us counted 10 chimes we starred at each other for at least 30 seconds we were amaized †¦ Sarah said in a quiet voice † where's my mum im getting scared?† I thought to my self i know the feeling †¦we sat there a while longer to see if she turned up when we could hear a rumbling noise from the drain pipe †¦ it was like someone was in the house †¦Sarah knew there couldnt have been anyone in the house because when she tried the door earlier it wouldnt open! I was so scared We sat there a little longer; I couldn't feel my feet and the end of my fingers were numb. I couldn't believe how long we had been out for. â€Å"Do you have any sweets, my blood sugar is going down† I searched my pockets and my bag I had nothing † I haven't got anything im sorry† I whispered in a shivery voice. Sarah had diabetes and couldn't go for very long with out food, I looked at Sarah she appeared tired and gloomy I thought she might be upset with me â€Å"Sarah† I said quietly â€Å"are you upset with me† she didn't answer I turned around and asked her again Sarah had passed out. NOW I WAS FRIGHTENED. I was alone; I rummaged through my bag and found one sweet. A deep red aniseed ball, I looked at Sarah. I knew she needed it more than me, so I sat her up against the wall and placed the aniseed ball on her tongue. Nothing happened†¦after a few seconds her eyes started to flutter â€Å"mum† Sarah called out, â€Å"Sarah its me, im here, are you ok?† she mumbled a few words I couldn't make out what she was trying to say. I asked her to repeat the what she said â€Å"the foot mat in front of the garage, there is a key for the front door† I ran to the garage lifted the mat and there was a key I picked it up and scrambled back. We stood up slowly put the key in the door and turned it, we walked in slowly. Sarah looked into the living room and started screaming†¦ I turned not knowing what I was going to see and Sarah's mum was slumped in the chair alone. She had passed away†¦

Reasons You Can Be Denied a Firearm Transfer

Since the passage of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act of 1993, those who purchase firearms from licensed dealers in the United States must submit to a background check to determine if they are eligible to buy and possess a gun. Licensed dealers must check each person who tries to buy a firearm through the FBIs National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). Prospective buyers who want to purchase firearms must first provide the dealer with photo identification and a completed Firearms Transaction Record, or Form 4473. If the buyer answers yes to any of the questions on Form 4473, the dealer is required to deny the sale. It is a felony,  punishable by up to five years in prison, to lie when completing the form. If the buyer qualifies, the dealer then requests a NICS check. NICS has three business days to approve or deny the sale. If the three days pass without a NICS determination, then the dealer can process the sale of the firearm (depending on local laws) or wait until NICS responds. Only about 1 percent of firearm transfers are denied by the NICS system, mainly because most convicted criminals already know they are not eligible to own a gun. Prohibitive Criteria for Transfers Federal law establishes specific reasons why a firearm transfer can be denied. If your firearm transfer is denied, it is because you or someone else with a similar name or descriptive features has ever: Been convicted of a felony.Been convicted in any court of a crime punishable by more than one year or a misdemeanor punishable by more than two years. This is the primary reason why requests for firearm transfers are denied.Been indicted for a crime punishable by more than one year.Been a fugitive from justice.Been a user of illegal drugs or an addict.Been involuntarily committed to a mental institution.Been an illegal alien.Been dishonorably discharged from the armed forces.Renounced U.S. citizenship.Been subject to a restraining order for threatening a family member.Been convicted of domestic violence.Been under an  indictment, but not convicted, of a crime carrying a possible year-long prison sentence. State Prohibitions The NCIS also can deny a firearm transfer based on applicable state laws. For example, if your state has a law prohibiting the possession of a specific type of firearm, NICS can deny your transfer even though possession of that firearm is not prohibited by federal law. The Brady Law was designed to make sure that only law-abiding citizens can purchase and own firearms, but critics claim that the law created a huge black-market demand for illegal gun sales to criminals. NCIS Accuracy In September 2016 the Department of Justices Office of the Inspector General performed an audit to check the FBIs quality control of NICS transactions. They selected 447 denied transactions and found that only one transaction was incorrectly denied, which resulted in a 99.8 percent accuracy rate. Next, the auditors looked at records indicating whether the FBI had denied the transactions within three business days. Out of 306 records chosen randomly, 241 were processed by the FBI appropriately. However, six of the transactions were denied internally by the FBI, but the denial was not communicated to the dealers from one day to more than seven months after the denial. Auditors also found 59 transactions that the FBI approved but should have denied. The FBI’s quality control checks caught and corrected 57 of these errors as a part of its internal controls. Appealing a Transfer Denial If you try to purchase a gun and receive a firearms transfer denial during the background check, you  can appeal that denial if you dont meet any of the prohibitive criteria and believe a mistake has been made. Approximately 1 percent of firearms transfers are denied, and many times its because of mistaken identity or incorrect records at NICS.
